Lower back pain is by far the commonest complaint I come across in my Cambridge clinic. Having said that, a large number of my patients possess pain between the shoulder blades, mid back, upper back or top of the shoulders, and have neck problems too.
Often this can be work-related, sport-related or just poor posture in general. Any pain, but particularly lumbar back pain can often be very frustrating, as it limits you in your mobility and over time, it may affect even your life-style and mood.
I am a big believer in a natural approach, often calling myself a “natural pain killer”, as I use a variety of alternative techniques to deal with the underlying causes. To alleviate back pain for my clients in Cambridge, I mainly use the following techniques:
- Dorn Method – a fascinating way to re-align the spine in a very gentle, non-invasive way, easing back pain in general and scoliosis in particular
- Rossiter System Workout – a system of intense stretches of the connective tissue, possibly the quickest way I have come across to be rid of back pain or any other aches and pains
- Sports Massage, deep tissue massage or remedial massage – as the names suggest, a massage of the deeper tissues to alleviate muscular tension, repetitive strain injuries, sports injuries etc
I like to encourage my clients in Cambridge to help themselves as much as they can, so often times I send them home with some exercises to do to stabilise what we have achieved, and improve the situation in between sessions.
